The Meadville 0.5K

Come join the Meadville Business Alliance on October 7th for our third Meadville 0.5K! This tongue-in-cheek race is for the less-than-fit runner to raise money for the business alliance’s beautification and community efforts. For Meadville’s 0.5K, runners make their way from the Downtown Mall main entrance–up Chestnut Street—to Diamond Park! Along the way, runners must partake in three mandatory stops: a savory stop, a drink stop, and a sweet stop. The runners will also be “distracted” by additional activity stops created by local MIBA members (past activities include cornhole, a disco dance off, manicure station, and photo booths). Bystanders can cheer on their loved ones or participate in offerings & deals given by the Chestnut Street (and surrounding area) businesses.

Not only will people be dashing towards the finish line to claim their shiny complementary participation medal, food trucks will be placed around the Diamond, photo booths, music, and other fun activities. The costumes worn by race participants is also a “can’t-miss”—the creativity is always impressive. Shiny trophies are given to the best dressed racers, too!

Kyle Swain Memorial Walk/Run

Walk to Make a Difference

Kyle Swain, an EMT and Communications Specialist at EmergyCare and Volunteer Firefighter with Belle Valley FD, had a passion for helping others. His dream was to join the United States Army and he made that dream come true. On Kyle’s last 6 mile training run in June of 2015, he collapsed of heat exhaustion 30 meters from the finish line. The next day, he passed away.

Join us on Kyle’s birthday to walk 6 miles from Belle Valley VFD to and around Headwaters park and back to the Fire Department. This is a recreational Walk/Run. It is not a timed event.

Registration is $30

You are encouraged to register in advance at emergycare.org/support/special-events/. The first 100 people registered will receive a cooling band. There will be hotdogs, drinks and s’mores at the Fire Department for everyone after the walk/run.

Each participant is encouraged to raise $101 in honor of Kyle training for the 101st Airborne. Money can be brought the day of the race.
