The ERC Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning tradition for many families and is one of the largest Erie Runners Club events with over 1,000 participants in the three events – the 10K Run, 5K Walk & 5K Run.
This pleasant early-morning event will have you home in plenty of time for dinner and will earn you the right to stuff yourself like the traditional Thanksgiving Day turkey! Many families participate each year – with three and four generations participating in one of the three events. Why not make it a Thanksgiving Day tradition in your family?
The premium this year is – your choice – a quality hooded sweatshirt or a long-sleeve t-shirt. Your entry must be postmarked by November 15, 2004 to assure receiving a premium. No shirts or sweatshirts will be available on day-of-race.
Cost is as follows: ERC member: $15 (t-shirt) or $20 (sweatshirt); Non-members: $17 (t-shirt) and $22 (sweatshirt). Race Only: $12 (until 11/24/04): Day of Race registration (no premium) is $15. Family discount (pre-registered ONLY): Immediate family, deduct 20% of total entry cost.
There is a Clydesdale division available for those who wish to compete with other racers their size. Awards for the Clydesdale division are: top 3 males in 180-199, 200-219 and 220 and over. Top 3 females in 140-154, 155-169, 170 & over. Please note that you must pre-register to compete in the Clydesdale division – no day-of-race Clydesdale registrations will be accepted.
Awards in all three events will be given to the top 3 overall and top master, then the top three in each 5 year age groups beginning with 10 & under and going up to 80 & over (i.e. 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc.)
Race participants are advised to arrive early (at least ½ hour) for Champion Chip pick-up. Chips will only be distributed on day-of–race. You may, however, pick up your race packet (t-shirt, bib number) early on Monday, November 22 and Wednesday, November 24 from 7-9 p.m. at the Community Blood Bank, 2646 Peach Street. Please be advised that you cannot pick up your packet earlier than 7 p.m. The Blood Bank is allowing ERC to use their facilities after working hours. Please refrain from calling the Blood Bank for information – any information about the race can be obtained from the ERC website or djcomi@adelphia.net or 881-0060.

Once again, we will have turkey feathers out on the course to be turned in for prizes. If you see a turkey feather – grab it and turn it in at the finish line!
Race Notes: Please be advised that you must park in legal areas at the Peninsula or risk ticketing. Race will not be canceled for weather reasons unless it is mandated by the Presque Isle authorities. Call 881-0060 on the morning of the race for notice of cancellation.
Post-race party will be held at the Lake Shore Fire Hall beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. The post-race party is always a fun time with plenty of refreshments, hot coffee, popcorn, doorprizes and fun for everyone.
