7:30 A.M. Beach #1, Presque Isle State Park
COURSE: One loop (13.1 miles) of Presque Isle State Park. The course starts and finishes on the Old Lake Road (Beach #1). The course is USATF-certified. USATF CERT #PA02012WB.
TIME: The 25th annual Presque Isle Half Marathon race will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. Day-of-race registration will begin at 6:00 a.m. near the Beach #1 bathhouse. Pre-race packet pickup will be held at Pre-race packet pickup will be held at Nautilus Fitness & Racquet Club, 2312 West 15th St., on Friday, July 18th, from 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday, July 19th, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The race will be timed using the ChampionChip. You must present your race number on Sunday morning to receive your chip. Chips will be handed out beginning at 6 a.m. and will be collected after you cross the finish line. There is a $30 fee for lost or unreturned chips.
AWARDS: All finishers will receive a finisher's medallion.
Open Division - Special awards personalized with name and finishing time will be presented to the top five male and female finishers and to the top male and female masters (age 40 & over) finishers. Personalized age group awards will be presented to the top three finishers (both male and female) in five-year age groups beginning with 19 & under and progressing through 90 & over. No duplications. In addition, any age group with more than 30 pre-registered runners will have awards presented to the top 10 percent of the pre-registered total (e.g. 40 persons pre-registered equals 4 place awards in that age group). No awards will be given in any age group that has no pre-registered runners.
Clydesdale Division - You may choose to run in this division where awards are based on body weight instead of age. Personalized awards will be presented to the top three males in these groups: 180-199 lbs., 200-219 lbs., and 220 lbs. and over; and to the top three females in these groups: 130-144 lbs. 145-159 lbs. 160 lbs. and over. Those choosing the Clydesdale division are ineligible for awards in the Open division. You must mark the appropriate division and weight group on the entry form to be entered in the Clydesdale division.
>POST-RACE PICNIC: The picnic will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Waldameer Park in the Southern #2 picnic grove (use Peninsula Drive entrance). Food and beverages (all-you-can-eat buffet style) will be served for all registered runners and for race volunteers until 1:30 p.m. The awards ceremony and door-prize drawings will commence as soon as race results are compiled. Complete results will be posted at the picnic grove. The shelter will be open for our use until 10 p.m.
Special Ride-A-Rama tickets are available for the discount price of $12. These combo passes are good any day the park is open during the 2003 season. Combo pass includes the rides and the water park (with shower facilities) from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. (7:30 p.m. for the water park). Offer is available to all ERC members and their families as well as all race participants.
