Event Highlights
ChampionChlp Timing
This year's events will be scored by The Runner's High using the ChampionChip Timing System. On race day, runners will be issued a rental computer chip which is attached to the shoelace and worn throughout the race. Special mats at the finish line will record a finishing time for each chip. All chips must be returned at the finish line. A $35 fee will be charged if the chip is not returned. All runners must plan to pick up their chips on race day; chips will not be issued during pre-registration or packet pick-up times.
National Running Center
National Running Center, one of America's premier running equipment stores, will be offering a large variety of shoes, clothing and accessories. Brand names represented will include: Best of Times, Hind, Frank Shorter, InSport, Asics, New Balance, Saucony and Moving Comfort. Here is your chance to compare and save on all your running needs.
Post-race Shower and locker
Convenient shower and locker area is available free to race entrants at the Hamot Wellness Center located at 300 State St. from 9-11 a.m. All you have to do is show your bib number to utilize this free service. Runners using this service also will receive a free one-week pass to the Hamot Wellness Center. Please bring your own lock, towel and soap.
Starting Times and Locations
Each event begins promptly at these times:
- Hamot 10 K/Mayor's Cup 8 a.m.
- 3-mile Fitness Walk/Run 8:15a.m.
- Toddler Trot 9:30 a.m.
- Awards Ceremony 10 a.m.
All events begin and end at the center of the Hamot campus at Second and State Streets. Water stops, medical assistance and traffic control are provided for the safety of the participants. First aid, provided by Hamot Sports Medicine, water and refreshments are available at the finish.
The 10K course is USATF certified #PA98016WB and follows a scenic route through Erie, passing through the lovely South Shore and Frontier areas. The 3-mile Fitness Walk/Run will follow as an out-and-back course. The length of the Toddler Trot is adjusted for each age group. A course map is available online at www.hamot.org.
The awards ceremony takes place in front of the Hamot Surgery Center on East Third and State Streets.

Registration/T -Shirts
The entry fee for the 2003 Hamot 10K/Mayor's Cup is $15; the 3-mile Fitness Walk/Run is $10. Add $3 if postmarked after Friday, Aug. 8. The family rate for four or more participants is $45. for pre-registered only (before Aug. 8). All 10K and 3-mile Fitness Walk/Run entrants receive a commemorative 2003 Hamot 1OK/Mayor's Cup T-shirt. Registration for the Toddler Trot for kids ages two to eight is free and will be taken until 9:15 a.m. on race day. Toddler Trot T-shirts are available on the day of the race for $4 each or can be pre-ordered on the registration form.
Day of race registration is held on Sunday, Aug.17 in the Hamot Surgery Center parking lot from 6 to 7:30 a.m. All 1OK and 3-mile event participants must be registered by7:30 a.m.on race day. All runners! walkers must plan on arriving early to facilitate distribution of the ChampionChip. Awards and Commemoratives
Hamot 1OK awards are presented to the first five overall male and female finishers, as well as the first male and female masters and wheelchair winners. The Hamot 10K will award plaques and merchandise certificates to National Running Center in amounts ranging from $150-$50.
